COL Stephen V. Smith

COL Stephen V. Smith was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry from Norwich University in 1984. While at Norwich he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was a four year letter winner and co-captain of the 1983 Norwich football team.

His military and civilian education includes completion of the Infantry Officers' Basic and Advanced Courses at Fort Benning, Georgia, and the Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He holds a Master of Science degree in Urban and Environmental Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA.

COL Smith has served in a variety of assignments to include:

• Rifle Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Mortar Platoon Leader, 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry, Fort Carson, Colorado
• Commander, A Company, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
• Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
• Assistant Professor of Military Science, Siena College, Loudenville, New York
• Brigade S3, 507th Corps Support Group and Support Operations Officer, 7th Transportation Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina
• COL Smith deployed to Bosnia as the 10th Mountain G4 Plans Officer. He was Executive Officer of the 10th DISCOM as well as the G4/CFLCC C4 (FWD) for the 10th Mountain Division where he was deployed in 2001/2002 to Afghanistan in support of Enduring Freedom
• Battalion Commander, 498th Corps Support Battalion, Seoul, Korea
• Deputy Commander, 37th Transportation Command, Germany
• Garrison Commander, Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York
• Currently serving as the Professor of Military Science Army ROTC, Norwich University
