The day beings at 0530 hours with physical fitness training, personal hygiene and breakfast. Training begins at 0800 hours each day with armed and unarmed team inspection, competition movements and uniform standards. In the afternoons, participants learn to execute stationary and marching movements in accordance with their respective service branch drill manuals. Training is focused on attention to detail, precision, team building, effective communications and leadership.
In the evening interactive classroom instruction and discussions focus on the “Train the Trainer” concept. Participants watch drill videos while learning to identify areas for skill development and improvement. Topics such as; How to Run an Effective Drill Practice; How to Develop a Drill Training Plan; Public Speaking; Leadership Techniques and Ethics will be discussed.
Throughout the program instructors will continue to build upon the skills developed from day one while participants begin to take a more proactive role in the training of their team or flight. The two week program concludes with an intensive personal drill efficiency test and drill competition to gauge each participant’s success.
Learning from Experience
Upon arrival, participants are divided into six, ten-person teams. Each participant will serve as "team leader" for one day and be evaluated on their overall performance. Approximately one month after the completion of the program each participant will receive a written evaluation of their performance based on such factors as skill progression, day-to-day leadership, integrity, maturity and confidence.
Recognizing Achievement
Families and friends are invited to attend at small graduation ceremony and drill demonstration on the final day. Individual and team awards are presented and the Honor and Distinguished graduates are named. This is a great opportunity for participants to exchange contact information so they can stay in touch. Graduation begins at 0900 hours.
