Women's Rugby: Norwich 53 Western Oregon 38
Sanford, FL - The Cadets advanced to the semifinals of the USA Rugby Women's Collegiate National Championships with a 53-38 victory over the Wolves. Norwich will meet Iowa State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. by virtue of the Cyclones' 63-0 win over Mary Washington in the Pool B Round of 8.
Pool A winners were Bowdoin and UC-Santa Cruz. The Polar Bears beat the University of Arizona, 22-0, while the Banana Slugs defeated the College of Charleston, 49-0. The two winners of Sunday's games will meet for the National Championship next weekend in Palo Alto, California.
Both Norwich and Iowa State reached nationals for the first time this season. The Cadets captured the top seed in the Northeast with victories over Siena College and Bowdoin last fall. The Cyclones earned the top seed in the Midwest after winning tournaments in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Elkhart, Indiana.
