Women's Rugby: Iowa State 20 Norwich 19
Sanford, FL - The Cyclones held off the Cadets in the semifinals of the USA Rugby Women's Collegiate National Championship, 20-19. Norwich nearly came back from an 11-point deficit, but time ran out.
Iowa State built a 12-5 lead early and later boosted its lead to 16-5 when the Cadets mounted a serious comeback. NU cut into the lead, 16-12, before the Cyclones moved back to an eight-point lead at 20-12. With time winding down, the Cadets added another score to trail 20-19. Norwich had a shot at the go-ahead points, but the clock expired.
With the win, Iowa State moves on to the national finals, May 4 & 5, in Palo Alto, California. The loss gives Norwich a 6-2 mark for the spring season, capping off the most successful campaign in team history.
