Women's Lacrosse: WNEC 26 Norwich 5
Springfield, MA - Kayte Devine tallied a career high nine points with six goals and three assists as top-seeded Western New England College rolled to a 26-5 victory over fourth-seeded Norwich in a semifinal round game of the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Tournament.
The Golden Bears (13-4) had 15 players score points in compiling their second highest scoring output of the season. WNEC held a 16-3 halftime lead.
Kristen Lewis led the Cadets with three goals, while Kathleen Hennessy handed out two assists. Norwich finishes its inaugural varsity season with a 7-5 record.
WNEC goalies Emilie Donka and Helene Rotolo combined for 10 saves, while Norwich netminder Katie Fraser made six stops.
Western New England College will host second-seeded Worcester State in the NEWLA Tournament championship game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. Worcester State defeated third-seed Castleton State in the other semifinal game, 16-6.
