Women's Lacrosse: Norwich 13 Emerson 9

Colchester, VT - The Cadets survived a pair of second-half rallies by the Lions and held on for a 13-9 victory. Norwich built its biggest lead at 10-3 six minutes into the second half when Emerson's Keri Angus scored three straight goals in a five and a half minute span to cut the lead to 10-6. The Cadets then tallied their final three goals on the afternoon from the 13:01 mark to the 11:21 mark The Lions added three more goals over the final four minutes of the contest, but time ran out.

Norwich opened the game with seven straight goals over the first 17 and a half minutes. Allison Daniels accounted for three goals in that surge. Emerson was held scoreless until the 3:43 mark and trailed 8-3 at the half.

Daniels and Ashley Haviland topped Norwich with four goals apiece, while Katie Magnus and Kathleen Hennessy each recorded two scores. Daniels led the way with three assists, while Haviland and Maura Kee each logged two helpers.

Angus finished the day with five goals to lead Emerson, all of which were scored consecutively in the second half. Jillian Cooley, Devon Turner, Meghan Robinson, and Sarah Read accounted for the other scores.

The Cadets outshot the Lions, 29-28. Norwich netminder Katie Fraser made 14 saves, while Emerson goaltender Kelly Johnson made a dozen stops on the day.

With the win, Norwich improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in NEWLA competition. Emerson drops to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Cadets will host Castleton State on Tuesday at 3 pm, while the Lions will host WNEC on Tuesday at 5 pm.
