Women's Sports: Lacrosse & Soccer Bowl For Charity
Members of the Norwich University Women’s Soccer team and Women’s Lacrosse team recently came together at Twin Valley Lanes in Montpelier, VT in the first annual bowl-a-thon fundraiser for the Burlington Ronald McDonald House.
A total of 29 young ladies represented both squads, along with Head Coach Tyler Renaud and Assistant Coach Dirk Vandeveer. The teams raised monies through pledges of up to $.05 per pin over the course of two games. Their efforts and the donations from friends, family members, administrators and professors from Norwich University allowed the young ladies to raise $750 for the Ronald McDonald House.
"I
was happy with the effort put forth by these young women,"
said Renaud, who is pictured presenting the check to Bobbi Mosher
with the Burlington Ronald McDonald House. "Part of the commitment
in being a Norwich soccer and/or lacrosse player involves a number
of community service projects, and these 29 young ladies in particular
took it to task, and I could not be more proud of them."
Renaud says some of his players missed this year's bowl-a-thon, so his goal for next year is 100 percent participation and $1,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.
"Being a Norwich University student athlete does not simply
consist of going to class and competing on the playing fields,"
said Renaud. "I try to instill the importance and need to give
back to our communities through volunteer projects, such as this
one."

by name and sport for their great work:
