Men's Tennis: Dezotell Named Coach of the Year
Northfield,
VT - Norwich University Men's Tennis Head Coach Kyle Dezotell
has been named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
Coach of the Year. Dezotell won the award following a vote of the
GNAC head coaches.
Dezotell led the Cadets to a 4-5 overall mark in his inaugural season of leading the Norwich Men's Tennis program. In conference matches, Norwich went 1-4.
"I’m very appreciative of my fellow GNAC coaches for thinking so highly of me," said Dezotell. "However, this really is an award for the Norwich team. We battled all year long and played some exciting matches against tough opponents. Often, the opposing coaches remarked to me how fit our team was and how they battled until the very end of every match, every set, every game, and every point."
The GNAC coaches also selected Aman Kapur of Emerson College as the Player of the Year and Henrik Arnbert of Johnson & Wales as the Rookie of the Year. Joining Kapur and Arnbert on the All-GNAC Team are Suffolk's Pedro Soares and Jared Orkin, Johnson & Wales Stuart Fodiman, and Emerson's Matt McKinney.
"While it is very satisfying to be recognized in a manner such as this, it truly is a testament to the great spirit of our student-athletes and the hard work of my assistant coaches, Professor Ernie True and Mitch Clapp, as well," added Dezotell.
The GNAC Tournament championship match will be played on Sunday at 1:00 pm with Western New England meeting Emerson.
