Softball: Cadets Sweep Rams In Beantown

Boston, MA - Norwich defeated Suffolk 5-4 in Game one and 10-6 in Game two of a doubleheader at Puopolo Field in Boston, MA.

Codi Collins went three for four at the plate as Norwich scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead. Collins had a home run and a triple in the game. Suffolk came back to score four runs in the sixth on Jess Ferreira's grand slam. Katelyn Menard went the distance for the win and Ferreira was the losing pitcher for Suffolk.

In the night cap, the Cadets scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Allison Weber had two doubles and two RBIs for Norwich, while Whitney Grennon had two RBIs. Justine Caron was the winning pitcher, going the distance. Suffolk was down 10-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning and the Rams responded by scoring four runs on four straight hits, with two of those triples from Marie Trainor and Rachel Misuraca. Ferreira was also the losing pitcher in the second game.

With the win, Norwich goes to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play. The Cadets will return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader against Simmons College. The games will be played at Lasell College in Newton, MA starting at 2:30 p.m.
