Softball: Norwich Sweeps Simmons College
Newton, MA - The Cadets recorded a pair of victories over the Gators.
4-2 was the final in the first game, while 4-3 was the final in
the night cap. The wins extend Norwich's winning streak to six games.
In the opener, Norwich scored two runs in the third inning and later added another in the fifth when Jazmin Stevens scored on a Simmons error. Katelyn Menard pitched six innings for the win, while reliever Emily Bean collected logged two outs for the save.
In the second game, the Gators tied the score at 3-3 in the seventh inning before Whitney Grennon smacked the game-winning walk-off home run for the victory. NU pitcher Justine Caron went the distance to pick up the win for the Cadets.
Norwich is now 9-3 overall and 4-0 in GNAC play. The Cadets will return to action on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Emmanuel College. The first pitch goes out at 1:00 p.m.
