Softball: Norwich Swept at Rivier College


Nashua, NH - The Raiders took both games of a GNAC doubleheader by the final of 2-1 in the opener and 3-1 in game two. The losses give Norwich a record of 14-8 overall and 9-5 in conference play, while Rivier improves to 21-5 in all games played and 16-2 in the league.

Game one went 11 innings and remained scoreless until the top of the ninth when NU's Justine Caron scored off a Jazmin Stevens RBI. Rivier's Aimee Fullford evened the scored at 1-1 with a run to open the bottom of the ninth. The Raiders' Alexa Feener scored the game-winning run in the 11th off an Anne Marie Day RBI. Winning pitcher Monica White delivered 22 strikeouts over 11 innings and did not give up an earned run. Katelyn Menard took the loss for the Cadets.

In game two, Caron accounted for Norwich's only run, which was scored in the first inning off Codi Collins' RBI. White answered the run in the bottom of the third. Rivier's Jessica Ethier and Nicole Tellier scored one run each in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively. Feener picked her seventh win of the season for the Raiders, while Caron took the loss Norwich.

The Cadets will be back in action on Saturday with a GNAC doubleheader at St. Joseph-Conn. at 1 pm. Rivier will take Saturday off before meeting St. Joseph-Conn. on Sunday at 12 noon in West Hartford, CT.
