Softball: Norwich Sweeps Emmanuel College
Boston, MA - The Cadets ran their winning streak to eight games
with a doubleheader victory over the Saints in a Sunday matinee.
13-1 was the final in the opener, while 8-5 was the final in the
closer.
The Norwich bats were buzzing in game one as Codi Collins went 3-3 at the plate with five RBIs and a grand slam homerun. Jazmin Stevens and Kerri Ingraham each totaled two RBIs, while Justine Caron and Allison Weber each recorded one RBI.
Starting pitcher Katelyn Menard allowed only three hits and delivered two strikeouts in four innings. Reliever Emily Bean took over in the top of the fifth and allowed one hit before the game was halted after four and a half innings.
In the second game, Emmanuel scored all five of its runs in the first inning due to a number of Norwich errors. Starting pitcher Justine Caron then went to work and struck out four batters and gave up only four hits. Caron also went 2-4 at the plate, while Grennon and Christine Carroll each went 2-3. Grennon logged four RBIs, while Carroll tallied a solo homerun.
With the wins, Norwich is now 11-3 overall and 6-0 in GNAC play. The Cadets will return to action on Wednesday with a home doubleheader against Middlebury at 3:00 p.m.
