Softball: Emerson College Sweeps Norwich

Colchester, VT - The Lions claimed both games of a GNAC doubleheader against the Cadets. 7-6 was the final in the opener, while Emerson registered a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap.

The Lions gave Norwich starting pitcher Katelyn Menard all she could handle in game one with 11 hits and no strikeouts. On the other side, the Cadets snapped out of a recent hitting slump as several players had multiple hits. Both Whitney Grennon and Justine Caron went 3-for-4 at the plate. Grennon posted two RBIs and one run, while Caron netted two runs. Four others had two hits each.

In the closer, Emerson limited Norwich to two runs in the shutout, with Codi Collins and Lindsey Fickett being the successful batters. The Lions registered eight hits and scored a pair of earned runs off NU hurler Justine Caron.

With the losses, Norwich drops to 14-12 overall and 9-9 in the GNAC. The Cadets will play again on Monday afternoon with a conference doubleheader at Pine Manor at 3:00 pm.
