Softball: GNAC Honors Two Cadets

Northfield, VT - Norwich Softball players Codi Collins (Waterbury, VT) and Katelyn Menard (Wolcott, VT) have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll.

Collins tallied nine runs on 12 hits in 21 at bats as the Cadets went 6-0 for the week. She also recorded nine RBIs and two homeruns, one of which was a grand slam in a 13-2 win over Emmanuel College.

"I am so proud of how Codi performed this past weekend," said NU Head Coach Jackie Patts. "Despite suffering a nasty cold, Codi proved to herself, her teammates, and to her coaches that no matter what obstacle is thrown her way, she is going to give it her all and compete. She lives for pressure situations and handles them very well by getting the job done."

Menard delivered 12 strikeouts and gave up six earned runs in 18.3 inning pitched. Menard was the winning pitcher in four of the Cadets' six victories.

"Katelyn's most memorable moment this past weekend was when she was brought in with the bases loaded and two outs against Simmons' best hitter," said Patts. "In fact, she struck her out with a high fast ball to secure to the victory. Her control, poise and her competitive nature will make Katelyn one of the most respected pitchers in the league this season."

The Cadets are currently 11-3 overall and 6-0 in GNAC competition.
