Men's Lacrosse: Norwich 12 Johnson State 10
Johnson, VT - Johnson State looked to rally from behind but Norwich
would get a timely goal when they needed it and kept JSC at bay
as the Cadets upended the Badgers 12-10 in men’s college lacrosse
play on Monday.
Norwich (2-8-1) jumped out to an early 5-2 lead at the end of one
quarter and then duplicated the effort in the second quarter to
take a 10-4 lead into halftime.
The Johnson State (3-6) defense would tighten up and not allow a
goal in the third quarter closing the margin to four at 10-6. NU
would continue to keep a comfortable distance until a late goal
JSC goal for the final score of 12-10.
Johnson State received a trio of goals each from Morgan
Sasso and Erik Tillberg. Billy
Noyes, Matt Riani, and Kegan Pettit
all netted a goal and handed out an assist for the Badgers. Injury-plagued
Evan Pestone would replace Josh Klockars
in goal for JSC and make a team-high 12 stops.
Norwich was led by Drew Caplin and his two goals
and two assists, while Colin Smith and Kyle
Rogers would each also tally a pair of goals. Joe
Phelan was outstanding in goal all day recording 13 saves
for the win.
Johnson State will host Castleton State College on Wednesday at
4:00 pm in their last regular-season home match, while Norwich moves
on to host Mass. Maritime on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
