Men's Hockey: Cleaver Retains All-America Status
Northfield,
VT - Norwich University Men's Ice Hockey forward Rick Cleaver
(Parksville, BC) has been named to the RBK Hockey All-America East
1st Team by the American Hockey Coaches Association. This is Cleaver's
second All-America honor as he was named to the East 2nd Team in
2006.
Cleaver led the Cadets with 24 goals and 44 points. The junior also logged four game-winning goals, four power-play goals, and a pair of short-handed goals. Norwich finished the 2006-07 season with an overall mark of 20-8-0 and a first-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
"Rick has developed into a complete player," said NU Head Coach Mike McShane. "He's got excellent speed, great outside moves, and a quick snap shot that's allowed him to score so many goals. He's an excellent team player that's improved each and every year he's been here."
Joining Cleaver on the East 1st Team is Geneseo forward Mitch Stephens, Neumann forward Neil Trimm, Middlebury defenseman Tom Moldonado, Colby defenseman Arthur Fritch, and Manhattanville goalie Andrew Gallant.
Cleaver was also named as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Year. The Cadets won the ECAC East regular season title for the 9th consecutive year.
