Baseball: River College Sweeps Norwich
Hudson, NH - The Raiders posted finals of 4-1 and 9-4 over the Cadets to take a GNAC doubleheader.
In the opener, Rivier scored all four runs by the fourth inning before Norwich notched its only run in the fifth inning off Tim O'Connor's RBI. Rivier pitcher Phil Goulet picked up the win, while Norwich hurler Jason Nickerson took the loss.
In game two, the Raiders built a 5-0 lead with one run in the first inning and a pair of runs in both the second and third. The Cadets pulled to within one with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and two in the sixth. However, Rivier put the game out of reach with four runs in the seventh.
Multiple hitters for Norwich included James Ramsey, who went 3-for-4, and Rob Knox, who finished 2-for-4. Andrew Tiner was the winning pitcher for the Raiders, while O'Connor took the loss for the Cadets.
The loss drop Norwich to 5-17 overall and 4-8 in the GNAC. The Cadets will travel to Western New England on Sunday for a GNAC doubleheader starting at 12 noon.
