Question of the Month: Wanted—War Stories
The Norwich University English department is soliciting war stories from Norwich alumni for publication in its student-produced literary journal, "Work Sighted". Any fictional or non-fictional account that takes place during wartime, whether occurring stateside or overseas, combat-related or not, will be considered. Please email your submissions to Professor Patricia Ferreira at pferreir@norwich.edu, or send to P. Ferreira, English department, Norwich University, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield VT 05663.
For those of you who are slow to respond, it is not too late to send in your photographs and memories of SGT Adam Kennedy '04 and CPT Anthony Palermo '02 from their time as students at Norwich. Our hope is to publish them in a future edition of @NU. Please respond to pubrel@norwich.edu. Thank you.
Editor's Note: "Global War on Terrorism" Response
Recently some alumni have questioned Norwich's use of the terms, "Global War on Terrorism" and "Global War on Terror" when referring to military conflicts involving our nation's armed forces. The University uses these terms to be consistent with the official wording of the United States Department of Defense.
In addition, the Department of Defense uses official terminology to refer to various military operations taking place throughout the world. Two such references are Operation Iraqi Freedom, or OIF, (for the war in Iraq), and Operation Enduring Freedom, or OEF, (for the war in Afghanistan). Norwich will also use these terms when referring to the areas in which our alumni and students are serving.
We appreciate readers sharing comments, views and opinions with the University, and hope that you will keep our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers.

Present and former residents of VT - Do you have any unclaimed property?
The Vermont State Treasurer’s Office is making an effort to return various forms of unclaimed financial property -- forgotten bank accounts, uncashed pay checks, unclaimed security deposits, unused gift certificates, etc. -- to the rightful owners. The property comes from banks, credit unions, corporations, utilities, insurance agencies, retailers, governmental agencies, etc. and is most often in the form of money, but can be stocks, mutual funds, or the contents of safe deposit boxes. The Treasurer's Office safeguards the assets until they can be claimed by the rightful owners or heirs.
