The Kresge and Fuller Foundation Challenges: The Big Push Toward Homecoming!
With only a month to go until Homecoming 2007, the big push is on for the Norwich Community to help the University meet the terms of two landmark challenge grant opportunities.
Through July 19, more than 600 alumni, friends, and corporations had given or pledged nearly $1,688,000 to the help Norwich meet The Kresge Foundation Challenge. This challenge grant from the nationally recognized Kresge Foundation of Michigan supports construction of the Wise Campus Center, a top priority for this year’s reunion classes.
If Norwich receives $2,243,650 in gifts and pledges designated to the Wise Campus Center by January 1, 2008, the Kresge Foundation will present the University with a $500,000 grant for the campus center.
The Kresge Foundation awards its challenge grants on an all or nothing basis. The foundation does not pro-rate its grants. Therefore, Norwich must raise the entire $2,243,650 to receive the challenge grant.
The second challenge grant is from the George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation of Worcester, Massachusetts. Targeted at younger alums who are considering their first gift to Norwich, the Fuller Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar all gifts and pledges, up to $100,000, from alumni who graduated since 1986 and who are making their first gift or pledge. Eligible gifts from alumni can be for any charitable purpose – an academic program, scholarship fund, or the Corps of Cadets.
Through late July, the University had received nearly $38,000 in gifts and pledges from 468 alumni toward the Fuller Foundation Challenge. When young alumni who are making their first gift to Norwich choose to restrict the money to the Wise Campus Center, they help the University meet both challenges!
The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation will match up to another $100,000 from young alumni in 2008. In addition, the Fuller Foundation is pledging another $300,000 outright to support construction of the Wise Campus Center.
To learn more about The Kresge and Fuller Foundation Challenges, call (802) 485-2307 or email the Office of Institutional Advancement at advancement@norwich.edu.
