Norwich alumni give more than $2 million to the University
Alumni Parade
Under a blue sky, Norwich University guidon bearers led the members of 55 alumni classes onto Sabine Field during the alumni marchon at Homecoming 2005.
The alumni parade is an annual tradition that highlights and honors alumni, the living legacy of Norwich University. The Corps of Cadets takes the field first, marching in formation to music played by the nation’s oldest military band. However, the highlight comes when alumni classes march onto the field, each class dressed in its own unique style.
This year, the most senior Norwich class to take the field (1934) had two members in attendance: Colonel Maurice Smith USA (Ret) from Northfield, VT, and the Honorable Dan Fleetham from Canaan, NH.
Reunion Giving
In 2005, 12 reunion classes (the 0 and 5 years) presented ceremonial checks to the platform party during the alumni parade. This year, these classes generated a grand total of $2,417,990 for the Norwich Forever! capital campaign fund.
