    Paying Tuition

    Dear Student, Family or Guardian:
We look forward to working with you in the coming years and are dedicated to doing all we can to make your education dreams become a reality. The following information will give you a better understanding of the Office of the Bursar.

Our goal is to have all student account finances resolved by the due date of the bill so our students can have a smooth start each semester.

The Office of the Bursar is responsible for generating the student tuition bill, administering the student health insurance program, generating monthly statements and enforcing the University fees and financial policies. For more information, visit the Bursar’s site.

Our Fees and Financial Policies are located on the Students Fees and Financial Policies page. We urge you to read this entire document very carefully to learn about fees and charges, payment options, refund schedules, and information concerning the student account.

Norwich University is pleased to offer an interest-free Installment Payment Plan to help students and parents make their education affordable. The plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in monthly installments over the course of the semester/year instead of one lump sum prior to the start of each semester. For more information about this plan and how to enroll go to the Tuition Payment Plan page.

The Norwich University student health insurance plan provides coverage for illnesses and injuries that occur on and off campus and includes special cost-saving features to keep the coverage as affordable as possible. Norwich University requires that every full-time undergraduate student have medical insurance coverage — either a personal policy or the one offered by Norwich. For more information about the plan or how to waive coverage, visit the Student Health Insurance page.

NUpay Norwich’s online billing and payment program. With NUpay, students and authorized payers (set up by the student) receive email notification each time a new bill is posted online. NUpay also allows family members and authorized payers such as designated parents, sponsors, employers and guest payers to make online payments with credit cards or electronic checks. For more information about NUpay and how to set up authorized payers/viewers, visit the NUPAY page.

FAQs about reviewing and reconciling the student account are located on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

NUpay FAQs are located on the Parent’s NUPAY FAQ page.

Each semester a student must return a Remittance Form if they are not making payment in full. There is a $50 fee for failing to return the form by the due date of the semester bill. Students need to have paid or have approved arrangements to be considered officially enrolled. For detailed information and the Remittance Form, visit the Remittance Form page.

To assist you in knowing what to do and when it should be done, please refer to the Bursar’s Financial Planning calendar.

Bursar services include check cashing, processing student refund checks, loan entrance and exit interviews, transcript and diploma releases and answering questions about student accounts.

The Bursar account counselors are here to help students and families understand student accounts and ensure that financial responsibilities are met. They are available to assist in person, by email or by phone.

Students are encouraged to arrive at Norwich University with a hometown bank checking or savings account. There is an automated teller located on campus which is connected with the PLUS and NYCE network systems. Personal checks up to $150 can be cashed in the Office of the Bursar and up to $100 at the Bookstore with proper ID. Students who are eligible for student work-study are encouraged to direct deposit their payroll check into their checking or savings accounts. Forms for direct deposit can be found at the payroll office or the Office of the Bursar.

    Insurance for Athletes

In order to participate in intercollegiate athletics at Norwich, all students must show proof of medical/health insurance coverage. Most students are covered under their parent’s insurance plan. This is your primary insurance. Student-athletes who are not covered under their parent’s plan or their own insurance must purchase the insurance coverage that is made available through the Bursar’s Office (“School Plan”). This plan then becomes your primary insurance.

In addition, athletic accident insurance (“Athletic Plan”) is provided by Norwich for our intercollegiate student-athletes. This plan is offered on a secondary or excess basis. This means that all claims must initially be sent through your primary insurance. The policy has a $1500 deductible and covers all athletic related injuries incurred at University sponsored practices and games, as well as injuries occurring during travel to and from games. This policy does not cover non-athletic related injuries or illnesses. In addition, this policy does not cover injuries occurring during participation in club or intramural sports. Club sports are covered under a separate plan.

The “School Plan” is made available each year to all Norwich students, even if they have other insurance coverage. We bly encourage you to purchase this policy, since it will cover non-athletic related injuries and illnesses, as well as the deductible on the Athletic Plan. The School Plan does not have a deductible. If you decide not to purchase this plan you must complete a waiver showing proof of other insurance coverage.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you do suffer an athletic related injury, it is very important that you coordinate with the contact person for the Athletic Department:
