    Youth Leadership Conference Weekend

    Youth Leadership Conference Weekend (YLCW) is conducted at the nation’s first senior military college and provides a worthwhile leadership experience through the development of individual leadership skills and teamwork.

    In conjunction with YLCW, Norwich hosts the Green Mountain Youth Leadership Conference (YLC), which is recognized by The National Association of Secondary School Principals. During the weekend participants are grouped into teams and are involved in both classes and physical challenges, which include:

    • Intelligent Leadership
    • Effective Communications
    • Water Survival Skills
    • Climbing Wall
    • Leadership Reaction Course
    • Our Constitution & The Bill of Rights
    • The Citizen Soldier
    • Free Enterprise & Personal Finance
    • Cyber Security
    • Honor & Ethics

    Prerequisites

    You should only apply if you are interested in pursuing a college education, attending a Federal Academy, military college and/or applying for a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship. Applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school and possess a 2.5 GPA or above.

    Students are required to submit an essay of 500 words or less titled: “The Bill of Rights and My Responsibilities,” describing what this means to them as a United States Citizen. Applications can be accepted at any time with or without the essay, but the essay must be received two weeks prior to the program start date.

    • March 29 – 31, 2013

    Costs

    There is a $75 fee for each participant. The fee will cover all meals, a t-shirt and certificate for completing the program. Your only other cost is travel to and from the University. The fee should be submitted upon receiving the emailed acceptance letter. Space is limited to 60 participants per session.

    Please download and Save As the forms below to your desktop. Then reopen the forms from your desktop, complete and Save.  Email the completed forms to nulcw@norwich.edu. Participants (and their parent/guardian) will receive an emailed acceptance letter with directions on how to proceed.
