"The best thing to do is to be completely honest in your answers. In order for the Norwich staff to be able to offer you the best education possible you must be upfront and thorough with your answers. Your academic record speaks for iteself but only you can make yourself an acceptable candidate as far as who you are, what you want to achieve and what career path Norwich can pave for you."

"The advice that I would give to other students trying to go through the college application process is to make sure you have everything done early. I had my application filled out by the end of the summer and the first day of school was able to receive my letters of recommendation. I e-mailed my teachers and asked if they could have them done for me. You need to give them at least a week if not more - so start everything early."

"When applying to Norwich, be honest and sincere and fully look at the school. It's far different than many colleges or universities and therefore unique. When applying, I made several visits to ensure that this was where I wanted to be for the next four years, I met with staff members, cadets, and even civilians attending the school"

"Fill out every extracurricular event you have accomplished since freshman year of high school. Academics matter but to be Norwich material you must transcend the boundaries of normal college admissions and look to the human characteristics of your application. I was not chosen for my academics but rather the merit of my character. Norwich is a place of honor and integrity and Norwich wants young people who live by these standards to take a place amongst the long, illustrious line of graduates and current students."

"If students are interested in applying to NU, I would have to say that you should come here and sleep over or take a tour so you could get a taste of what NU is all about. Also, juniors in high school could attend the Future Leader Camp here and see how that goes because when I attended FLC in 2005, that really sealed the deal for me."

"Be completely honest, but do not forget to add your personality into your writing! Norwich is interested in you not your perfect, robotic, one size fits all essay."

"Don't procrastinate. The sooner you finish your college and scholarhip applications, the better. Also, don't get frustrated if the work load seems like it is too much."

"Before applying:
- Visit the school. The campus an dsurrounding scenery is not done justice through photographs.
- Set up a meeting with an admissions personnel and a time when you will be shown the school by a current student. This will allow you to ask questions to someone in charge and then someone who is more relaxed.
- Parents: allow your child to do at least one of the above alone (preferably the showing of the campus) because it gives time for your offspring to ask questions they might have been embarrassed asking in front of you
In regards to the application process:
- Be sure to be on their mailing list (e-mail or otherwise) and actually read the updates and chat offers you receive.
- Go to a chat room at least once and ask questions
- Keep updated on what is happening with your paper work and if the school has everything that they need from you.
- If you have questions, don't be afraid to call. Everyone is very courteous and willing to help. No questions are dumb."
