What makes Norwich truly special is that the graduates are taught to serve. Whether you go into a career in the military, the business world, law enforcement, or government, Norwich teaches people how to serve and how to lead. The best way Norwich does this is by giving students leadership experience very early on.
I see a lot of young people coming out of other colleges, but the graduates coming out of Norwich are head and shoulders ahead of them. This is because of their experience in that leadership lab called Norwich. The fact that Norwich doesn't have tactical officers or resident assistants living in the barracks, or that the Commandant gives the cadre a large amount of responsibility shows that students are the senior people in the barracks — that is unique to Norwich.
The first thing that always stands out about the academic experience at Norwich is the class size. There is such a low ratio of students to professors, you always get a lot of personal interaction with the professors.

The University's Guiding Values are very important, especially now with so many challenges that officers have to face. Whether it's running a fiscally sound office, doing everything above board, or even taking care of POWS, Norwich teaches you that there is usually one right way. They also teach you that there aren't a lot gray areas. Doing the right thing is not always the easy way. Norwich prepares you to make tough decisions.
The first thing that always stands out about the academic experience at Norwich is the class size. There is such a low ratio of students to professors, you always get a lot of personal interaction with the professors. Whether you majored in political science, engineering, criminal justice or history, you probably went through at least one class with each faculty member in your department. Norwich offers so much more than just the student-teacher interaction. Students build lifelong friendships and meaningful relationships with the students, faculty, and staff.
