Office of Academic Research

Norwich University’s Office of Academic Research serves faculty and students by providing access to internal and external resources to support their scholarly activities and professional development.

Faculty can find information about the Faculty Development Program in Academic Memorandum #14, including information on eligibility and application processes for Faculty Activity Grants, Research and Publication Grants, Curriculum Development Projects, Book Fund Grants, Independent Study Leaves, Charles A. Dana Fellowships, Curriculum Development Fellowships, Board of Fellows Faculty Development Prize, and Charles A. Dana Category I Grants.

Additional resources for faculty come from VPAA Chase Initiatives in the form of International Travel Grants, Visiting Scholar Program, Junior Faculty Startup Grants, Faculty Release-time Awards, and Chase Laboratory / Resource Capitalization Grants, all funded by the Chase Endowment for Academic Excellence.

The Student Research Program supports the involvement of students in original research, scholarship and creative work, and provides internal support for Student Research Grants, Student Travel Awards, and Student Summer Research Fellowships.

Faculty working with a student on coordinated, but separate, projects are also eligible to compete for summer research fellowships in this program.

Curiosity is contagious. Professors that are feeding their curiosity are recognized by students immediately. They understand the excitement that the professor brings to the process.
