Memorandum 8 - Employee Recognition and Honoring of Retiring Personnel Revised September 2012
Purpose
This policy governs the recognition of employees who have served the University 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, or 45 years, and honor those who are retiring.
Policy
Annually the University will arrange an event honoring employees who have served the University 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years, and also honor those who are retiring. This is the single event the University will have for these purposes.
Responsibility
The Office of Human Resources will be responsible for insuring that qualifying employees are recognized and honored. The Office of the Commandant will designate one parade in the spring to recognize retiring staff and faculty and announce it to the community. This parade can serve multiple functions.
Implementation/Guidelines
Other Recognition
Offices, departments, schools, and other units of the University, are authorized to have a function(s) to honor or wish farewells to personnel from their functional area. However, such occasions are not official University functions and may not be paid for with University funds.
Invitations
Invitations for office, department, and school functions should be limited to the local area. Widespread invitations and solicitations to alumni and friends require approval by the President’s Office.
