Administrative Memorandum 6 - Children in the Workplace
Purpose
To reduce the potential liability of the University and to help eliminate distractions and disruptions for colleagues, students and visitors on campus.
Policy
While it is recognized that there are extenuating circumstances when it is necessary for an employee to have a child in the workplace, it is also recognized that employees’ children in the workplace are distracting and disruptive for colleagues, students and visitors as well as the employee and create an additional liability for the University. Therefore, it is University policy that employees’ children are not to be in the workplace.
Securing good affordable day care can be difficult but the family and medical leave policy eases some of the burden of caring for a new baby or a sick child.
