Administrative Memorandum 37 - Computer Loan Program
Purpose
To assist University employees in procuring personal computer equipment.
Policy
The University will provide loans for personal computers to faculty and exempt staff who have completed 90 days employment and to non-exempt staff after completion of 1 year employment.
Responsibility
The Treasurer's Office is responsible for administering the Computer Loan Program. Employees are responsible for completing loan applications and acquiring appropriate signatures of approval.
Implementation/Guidelines
- Loan limit: $3,000.00
- 30 month repayment
- Loan shall be interest free
- Steps to take to acquire a loan:
- fill out application which is in the Treasurer's Office
- acquire supervisor's approval signature
- acquire signature of Provost (faculty) or Treasurer (staff)
- sign promissory note in Treasurer's Office. Person receiving computer loan will be contacted by the Treasurer's Office when the application is approved and when check and note are ready for signature.
- Monthly payment is taken out of employee's paycheck
- If someone would like to add to their computer they may do so. The new additional amount will be added to the balance due on their original computer loan and that amount will be divided by the number of months left on the original note.
- If someone is buying their second computer or upgrading and wants a second loan they may do so if there is not a waiting list for first time loan applicants. If there is a waiting list, they will be placed at the bottom of the list.
- If the employee is terminated or leaves the University for any reason the loan becomes due and payable. It will be taken out of the individuals final paycheck.
