Memorandum 25 - Helicopter Landings at Northfield Campus

  1. Purpose

    Helicopters are requested to land on campus to support various military training missions and demonstrations, when transporting VIP visitors and for medical emergencies.

  2. Policy

    Helicopter operation to/from the Northfield campus must have approval of the Chief Administrative Officer.

  3. Responsibility

    The department sponsoring the helicopter must notify the Public Affairs Office and the Security Office of arrival/departure times.

  4. Implementation/Guidelines

    The Chief Administrative Officer shall assign the appropriate landing location.

    The pilot must be briefed regarding the sensitive feelings by some in the community and cautioned to carefully follow Federal Aviation Regulations regarding helicopter operations. Arrivals and departures should avoid areas south of Norwich in the Roxbury area.
