Memorandum 25 - Helicopter Landings at Norwich University
Purpose
This policy governs the non-emergency use of helicopters on University property.
Policy
Helicopters may land on Norwich property with prior approval to support various military training missions, demonstrations, when transporting VIP visitors, and for medical emergencies
Responsibility
The department sponsoring the helicopter must notify the Public Affairs Office and the Security Office of arrival/departure times.
Implementation/Guidelines
The Chief Administrative Officer shall assign the appropriate landing location.
Helicopter operations to/from University property must have prior approval from the Chief Administrative Officer or his/her designee.
The pilot must be briefed regarding the sensitive feelings by some in the community and cautioned to carefully follow Federal Aviation Regulations regarding helicopter operations. Arrivals and departures should avoid areas south of Norwich in the Roxbury area.
