To ensure proper release of information from student records.
All information from student records which is released by Norwich University will be released in full compliance with University policy and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
The Registrar's Office is responsible for overseeing this policy in relation to academic records. The Commandant / VP of Student Affairs are responsible for disciplinary and housing records.
The Registrar's Office will act on all requests for an institutional response to inquiries from third parties about a student's academic and extracurricular life. In responding, the Registrar's Office will draw upon the records maintained by the Registrar, and the Commandant / VP of Student Affairs.
Other members of the faculty and staff will respond directly to inquiries addressed to them in their role as advisor, instructor, major department or division head, or as custodian of specialized records such as those maintained by the Treasurer, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Placement and Director of Cooperative Education.
