Video: Students did whatever was asked
of them in the wake of storm disaster © Nov. 30, 2012, Norwich University Office of Communications

When rains from Tropical Storm Irene swelled Vermont rivers and sent them roaring through homes and businesses, Norwich University students did far more than watch from a safe perch atop The Hill.

Students in Mountain Cold Weather Company were on hand as emergency first responders. The Corps of Cadets and dozens of teams and clubs marched down into the town of Northfield to participate in the exhausting, miserable work of cleanup. Through the Center for Civic Engagement, students forged relationships with townspeople and continued to help them rebuild months after the August 2011 storm.

This video commemorates thousands of hours of volunteer work by the students of Norwich, the country’s oldest private military college.
