Museum Director Hired

Karen Petersen

Norwich University recently hired Karen E. Petersen as its new Museum Director. Petersen will curate the new Sullivan Museum and History Center, slated to open in October 2006.

Petersen previously worked at the Shelburne Museum, where she held the title of Associate Director of Education. Prior to that, she served as Director of Development for the Flynn Theater in Burlington and Director of the Rokeby Museum in Ferrisburg. Since 2000, Petersen has been an adjunct faculty member at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, where she teaches courses in history and literature through the arts.

Petersen received a B.A. in political science from Trinity College and an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont. A Connecticut native, she grew up in Middlebury and today makes her home in North Ferrisburg, Vt., where she lives with husband, Kurt Plank, and daughter, Phoebe.
