Partridge Society Establishes New Giving Levels for Young Alumni, Diamond Donors

The Partridge Society’s stated mission is to “provide financial resources necessary to secure the future of Norwich University.” At their Spring Meeting, the Partridge Society Board of Directors made a commitment to focus on the Annual Member throughout the Norwich Forever! Campaign, and have set a goal of 1,000 annual members by the year 2010.

To help the Society reach that goal, Chrissie Eastman, the new Sustaining Gifts Officer, was tasked with looking at the Annual Appeal strategy and recommending changes that would focus on improving giving rates and soliciting higher level gifts.

Towards that end, the Board recently approved new giving levels for two segments of donors. While the corresponding levels of giving differ between the segments, the underlying theme remains the same -- Norwich is committed to encouraging sustained giving and recognizing those who support the University financially.

Beginning with fiscal year 2007, undergraduate alumni who are within five years of graduation, and who make gifts to Norwich totaling $200 or more during the fiscal year (1 June - 31 May), will be recognized as Annual Members within the Partridge Society. Likewise, undergraduate alumni who are between six and ten years of graduation, and who make gifts to Norwich totaling $500 or more during the fiscal year, will be recognized as Annual Members. For alumni who have been out of school for eleven or more years, the Annual Membership level will remain at $1,000 or more. In each case, Annual Membership is recognized with the receipt of the Annual Membership Pin, an invitation to the Partridge Society Luncheon at Homecoming, and inclusion in the Annual Report.

Also beginning with fiscal year 2007, the Partridge Society Board and the Trustees will begin to recognize our most generous donors based on lifetime giving at new, unprecedented "Chairman's Diamond Club" levels. Lifetime donors who have achieved Chairman's Diamond Club levels will receive beautifully designed diamond pins based on cumulative lifetime giving, as follows.

It is the Board's hope that with these changes, more alumni will be inspired to give back to the University to the extent that they are able. Partridge Society President Mark Thompson '79 believes these changes will make it easier for the Society to recognize and attract new donors, while also honoring significant lifetime philanthropy.

“Partridge Society membership is now available to all alumni, and we are better positioned as a Society to recognize every possible level of a gift," Thompson said. "These changes give reason for donors to help fulfill our mission, which remains to provide financial resources necessary to secure the future of Norwich University.”
