Regimental Drill Team Takes Overall Win At Cornell Competition
The Norwich University Regimental Drill Team competed at the Cornell University Invitational Drill Competition (CUIDC) at Ithaca, NY, on November 19. Just as they did the past two years, the Drill Team took first place overall against many top schools.
To earn this "First Overall" distinction, the Drill Team garnered top honors in Platoon Inspection, Exhibition, and Color Guard, as well as second in Dual Exhibition.
The Drill Team freshmen also participated at this year’s competition; they placed third in Platoon Basic and Fourth in Platoon Inspection. In addition, the Drill Team cadets placed first and third in the Individual Drill Down against over one hundred other cadets from other schools.
The following schools participated at CUIDC: University of Pennsylvania, Penn State, Boston University, United States Coast Guard Academy, Cornell University, Mass Maritime, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington University, United States Naval Academy, Hampton Roads, Villanova, MIT, Holy Cross, RPI, Colorado University, University of Virginia, United States Merchant Marine Academy, United States Military Academy (West Point), and the University of Maine.
In February 2006, the Norwich University Drill Team will travel to Southern California to compete in the Southern California Invitational Drill Meet. This will be the first year that the Drill Team will compete at this competition; the Drill Team is expecting great competition and hopes to show their force on the West Coast.
