NU Athletics to receive a boost following new appointments

(l-r) C. Crosby, S. Miller, and D. Maxwell

The Norwich University Athletic Department has announced the appointment of David Maxwell as the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing. Maxwell will oversee the formation of an all-inclusive athletic booster club, athletic merchandising, advertising and marketing for Kreitzberg Arena, Sabine Field, and other Norwich sporting venues, as well as athletic ticketing operations.

For the past four years, Maxwell has served as the Director of Arena Operations for Kreitzberg Arena and will continue in that capacity, overseeing all advertising, promotions, events, and ticket sales. Additionally, Maxwell is also responsible for concession sales and customer service.

"I'm very excited about the potential of our new athletic booster organization," said Brigadier General Mike Kelley, Norwich University Vice President of Student Affairs. "This organization will help all of Norwich Athletics and Norwich University move forward."

Assisting Maxwell in this new appointment will be Charlie Crosby, who is currently the Director of Major Gifts in the Norwich Office of Institutional Advancement. In addition to his athletic marketing duties, Crosby will assume the title of Assistant to the Assistant Director of Athletic Marketing, where he will help oversee the day-to-day media coverage of Norwich's 16 varsity and four club sports. Crosby will also have limited development duties in the Office of Institutional Advancement.

Crosby has been the Director of Major Gifts at Norwich since 2002. Prior to his arrival in Northfield, he was a sales manager for LeCroy, a New York-based firm that designs, builds, and sells digital high-speed oscilloscopes. Crosby is a 1963 graduate of Norwich, and he was a member of both the baseball and rifle teams. He is also one of the founding members of the Blue Line Club, the fundraising arm of the Cadets ice hockey team.

"Both Mr. Maxwell and Mr. Crosby bring tremendous experience to our athletic booster organization," said Kelley.

Maxwell will assume his new title immediately, while Crosby will join the Norwich Athletic Department as of June 1.
