Norwich University Drill Team "shocks" the Nation
The Norwich University Drill Team (aka Shock Platoon) competed in the Cornell University Invitational Drill Competition at Ithaca, New York, on November 20th. The Shock Platoon overwhelmed the competition, winning first place for all eight events and first place overall. Competition consisted of Inspection, Squad Basic, Platoon Basic, Color Guard, Unit Trick, Two Man Trick, 4x400 relay, and Individual Drill Routine.
The following schools participated at Ithaca: University of Pennsylvania, Penn State, Boston University, United States Coast Guard Academy, Cornell University, Mass Maritime, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington University, United States Naval Academy, Hampton Roads, Villanova, MIT, Holy Cross, RPI, Colorado University, University of Virginia, United States Merchants Marine Academy, United States Military Academy (West Point), and the University of Maine.
In February 2005, the Norwich University Drill Team will travel to Tulane University to compete in the National Championships. Last year at the nationals, the Shock Platoon finished first in a number of events but placed second overall.
