Architecture & Art Alumni Weekend a Success
The Division of Architecture and Art held its Spring Alumni Weekend February 27-29, 2004. Now in its 14th year, the program has approximately 200 alumni. The event was preceded by an Architecture Job Fair Friday afternoon, where alumni from the area represented their firms for recruiting. Other firms from Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut also attended.
On Saturday, breakfast was served in Chaplin for all participants, followed by Portfolio Workshops, whereby 4th and 5th year students shared their portfolios with the alums for critique. The 4th years, in hopes of increasing their chances for summer internships, provided lunch for the alumni.
After lunch, Michael Kilkelly, '95, Eric Kuchar, '96 and Chris Vernott, '00 gave presentations on their work of the past few years, followed by a discussion of education architecture and practice.
In the evening, the annual Architecture social, the Beaux Arts Ball, was held at the Capital Plaza, with alumni, current students and faculty of the Division of Architecture & Art invited to come dressed as their 'alter ego'. This was followed in the morning by a very informal gathering in the Thesis studio, where alumni discussed the current state of the profession with the upcoming graduates.
