Monday, June 9, 2003, Norwich University presented officials from the Town of Northfield with a check in the amount of $30,000. The check is an emergency services donation from Norwich University to the Town of Northfield.

The check was presented to Town Manager Charles Morse by President Schneider.

“The Town of Northfield is, and will always be, an important partner to us. We value the relationship we have shared since we built our first barracks here in 1868,” said Schneider. “For 135 years, our location has played a big part in what makes Norwich University such a special place for the students, faculty and staff who live and work here. This payment is just one of many ways Norwich University demonstrates its commitment to Northfield and how proud we are to be a part of it.”

Norwich University’s total payment to the Town of Northfield is $101,804.42, of which $71,804.42 is for assessed property tax.

In addition to the university’s cash payment, Norwich regularly makes its facilities available to Northfield Junior and Senior High Schools for sporting events, the Junior Prom and graduation. Additional groups that benefit from free access to Norwich facilities include Little League baseball, Dynamos youth soccer, Tee-ball, Rifle league, Northfield Business & Professionals Association and the Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts.
