Allen Doyle honored for contributions to Norwich

Allen Doyle drops ceremonial puckDoyle played three years of hockey at Norwich, serving as captain of the team as a senior when he set a single season record for assists by a defenseman. He also was a member of the golf team at Norwich, winning the ECAC title in 1970.

Doyle became a professional golfer in 1995 and joined the Senior PGA Tour in 1998. He has seven wins on the Senior Tour and was the 2001 money list leader with over 2.5 million dollars in earnings.

Doyle, who was an inaugural member of the Norwich Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983, hosts annual fund raising golf tournaments for the University in Atlanta and Vermont.

Doyle dropped the ceremonial puck for the game as part of the evening's events, which saw the Cadets win the game, 7-3., January 2003
