AmeriCorps recognition luncheon
On Thursday, November 6, the Office of Volunteer Programs held a luncheon
to recognize the hard work and dedication of eight young men and women
who are volunteering their time and talents to serve the community through
AmeriCorps.
Susie Hudson, the Executive Director of the Vermont
Commission on National and Community Service, and Rachel Wells, AmeriCorps
Coordinator for Vermont
Campus Compact spoke to the crowd at the luncheon held in the University's
Milano Ballroom. Also present were representatives from the community
agencies for whom the students' service is being performed, which include
organizations like the Brown
Public Library, Drug Free Communities, Study Partners, the March
of Dimes, and the Vermont Trial Lawyers
Association. Many members of the Norwich community were also in attendance.

- Student Coordinator for Alternative Breaks Program, Office of Volunteer
Programs
- Jonathan Capen (Class of 2005, NUCC)
- Tutors students in math at the STAR Alternative High School Program
in Northfield, and tutors students through Study Partners
- Orlando Craig (Class of 2004, Civilian)
- Acting Student Senate President, and Civic Fellow through VT Campus
Compact
- Moriah Gavrish (Class of 2006, Civilian)
- Norwich University Youth Mentoring Program Coordinator
- Javonne Gray (Class of 2005, NUCC)
- Assists the VT Trial Lawyers Association, and helps coordinate Deliberative
Dialogues on campus
- Benjamin Kleskovic (Class of 2006, NUCC)
- Tutors patrons with computer use at the Brown Public Library
- Stephanie Tavss (Class of 2005, NUCC)
- Public Relations officer for Office of Volunteer Programs, and videographer
for Cook Islands Service Trip
- Jamie Wright (Class of 2007, Civilian)
- Assistant Youth Mentoring Coordinator, Prevent Child Abuse, and the
March of Dimes volunteer
