Music Club heats it up with Norwich Night

On the nights that used to leave students searching for something
to do, which wouldn't empty either their bank accounts or their
gas tanks, there is now a close by entertainment option.
Over the hill in Williamstown, Vt., The Music Club is offering
a "Norwich Night" once a week, which allows students 18 years old
and over to let loose on the dance floor, play pool, or just hang
out.
"There are so many reasons to go to The Music Club instead of
traveling to Millennium in either Barre or Burlington," said Natalie
Deslandes, 19, an electrical engineering major from Swanton, Vt.
"It is cheaper, cleaner, plays better music, and is closer to campus."
And since money seems to be a major concern, the "more for your
buck" appeal of The Music Club has made some students quite satisfied.
"Most other clubs around here charge five dollars for people over
21 and ten dollars for people 18-20 years old," said Joe Stadelmeyer,
20, a civil engineering major from Saratoga Springs, N.Y. "The Music
Club is a nice change of pace, especially financially."
What used to be a quaint little country bar, has now turned into
a usually hopping nightclub full of Norwich University students.
When the doors open at 9:30 p.m., students 18 and over have been
seen lined up to pay the $3 to $5 cover charge to have their share
of fun. The weekly college night at The Music Club certainly has
become a primarily Norwich party.
"Groups of friends just get together for a night of fun and stress
relief that is both effective and affordable," said Heather Allisot,
19, a freshman communications major from Bath, Maine. "What more
can college students ask for?"
For most Norwich students the answer to the question is simple:
not much. For those who are looking for a little more, The Music
Club is also a form of employment for a few Norwich students.
"I just happened to be at the bar one night when a fight broke
out and I guess the owner liked the way I handled the situation
cause he offered me a job as a bouncer for the college nights,"
said Ryan Peach, 21, a senior from Burlington, Mass.
So whether you are looking for fun or employment The Music Box
in Williamstown offers a multitude of options that are close by
the campus, which can ease the mind and the wallet.
