Editor's Note: The following was forwarded to The Norwich Guidon by President Schneider for entry as a letter to the editor.

Dear Dr. Schneider,

One of the best parts of the holiday season is that it encourages each of us to reflect on the past year and to take stock of the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

I have much for which to be grateful this year, including having had your support for the blood drives at Norwich University. The generosity and kindness that you have demonstrated has been critical to the Red Cross blood program being able to meet the blood product needs of patients throughout our region. It warms my heart to know that you and numerous other volunteers stand ready to help patients at their time of critical need.

Your contribution and efforts continue to bring hope to countless hospital patients. Thanks to your support, many of them will be back home this holiday season in the loving comfort of their families. That is a lot of moms and dads, grandmothers and grandfathers, and sons and daughters who will experience the warmth of the holidays as never before. So, for each of them, and for all of our staff here at the blood center, I say thank you and wish you and yours a healthy year ahead.
