After a slow start to the season, the Norwich men's soccer team has posted a 4-8, 2-3 GNAC record through 13 games, and playoff hopes are still alive for the 2003 season.

"Basically every game for the rest of the season is crucial," said Silver Oghayore, a junior from Bridgeport, Conn.

"Coach is still real positive," he said, looking ahead to the playoffs. "It's possible, but we really need to get it together."

This is James Franklin's first year as head coach of the Norwich soccer team.

After a convincing 5-0 win over Emmanuel at Pine Manor College on Oct. 4, the Cadets were on the road for the next two games against Southern Vermont University, then Johnson and Wales.

Heading into the last six games of the season, the team is in good shape with the exception of junior Ebale Siriwayo, who will take a medical red-shirt because of an ankle injury.

"The remaining conference games are tough," Siriwayo said.

The team will return home for games against Middlebury, Rivier and Albertus Magnus before ending the season with a battle at Western New England College.

October's competitive schedule will challenge the Cadets, but the team remains optimistic.
