Sports Hotline gives listeners info on NU sports teams, events

By Cosmo St. John
Norwich Guidon Staff Writer

What is the sports hotline, anyway? Many on the Norwich campus don't know.

Dave Caspole, director of sports information, is responsible for the hotline, a toll-free number with a recording that will tell listeners about Norwich sports teams and give "basically, a 30-second radio clip about the games."

Caspole, who is reponsible for compiling records of all team scores and maintining public relations pertaining to sports teams at Norwich, said the hotline was created for "parents, alumni and people who are not in close proximity of the school, to pick up scores and results."

Those who call will discover that the hotline is a series of mailboxes which store information on sporting events as well as the weekly scoreboards. It is also possible to make reservations for specific events by calling this number, Caspole said.

On days when Norwich has many teams playing games, the scores will be updated as they come in, he said.

If there is a soccer game in the morning and a football game in the afternoon, the soccer game will be posted first and the football game second, Caspole explained.

The toll free hotline number is (877) 683-8368.
