Career Corner

It's your future we're talking about...

Online "career" sites can be a valuable tool in your personal career search. Recently, I browsed one service, which may not be as well known as "Monster" or the other big names, but what I found was great. The site is "CampusCareerCenter.com." If anything piques your interest, go ahead and register at the site; it's free to students, and it may serve as a terrific supplement for the work you do with the Norwich University Career Development Center, located on the top floor of Harmon Hall, 485.2125 or careers@norwich.edu.

The home page of CampusCareerCenter (CCC) has a couple of company advertisements, as you might expect -- someone has to pay for the service; thank goodness it isn't you!

But the blue box on the left of the screen is where the action is! Listen to some of these "Career Resource" headings you can check out for yourself: Career Corner, Intern Zone, and Visa Center. Under the "Job Search" heading, you can check out Search Jobs and Research Companies.

Career Corner has lots of information and FAQ pertaining to various aspects of the job search, from resume preparation to interview etiquette.

Intern Zone is a great place to find out where, how and why to get a summer internship. There are also links to internship opportunities.

Visa Center has an amazing amount of information on the visa and immigration processes.

Search Jobs is a great way to search over 11,000 openings, updated daily, by location, industry, and job description or job title.

Research Companies is a great way to investigate one or many companies in one fell swoop. CCC has partnered with WetFeet to provide this service. You search for the company alphabetically, and up pops all the information you need, including employment and internship opportunities, as well as web site addresses and company history.
