February 21, 2003 There was certainly a lot happening on campus over the last few weeks. I have had the opportunity of visiting the Student Senate, the Student Activities Council, the Norwich Alcohol Assessment Program meeting, a send-off breakfast for the students who are representing Norwich at the Model U.N., the Society of American Military Engineers dinner and an Engineer of the Week awards ceremony in the new Armory of the Future. Every place I go, I am continually impressed with the quality of our students and what you are doing on campus. Whoever says that nothing happens on campus has not been on our campus. On Thursday, February 20, 2003, a meeting was held to talk about how we can improve communications on campus so that everyone is more aware of what is happening. I should be getting Dr. Stowell's recommendations shortly. I will keep you advised about how news on all of the great and exciting happenings gets distributed more. The searches for Commandant and Vice President for Student Life and the Deputy Commandant are progressing. If you get a chance to meet any of these candidates, please be sure that you send your comments to Mr. Dave Whaley at davew@norwich.edu, for the Commandant and Vice President for Student Life applicants and send me your comments regarding the Deputy Commandant at Pres@norwich.edu. A letter was sent out on Wednesday, February 19, 2003, to all the faculty, alerting them that they have each received pin numbers to access Banner Web. Banner Web will give them access to class lists, teaching schedules, and contact information for all of our students and their classes, along with the ability to post mid-semester and final grades. Grading on the web will replace using SZAGRDE in Banner. Shortly, all of the undergraduates at Norwich will also receive pin numbers for access to Banner Web. This will enable you to see your own schedules and mid-semester and final grades. Additional information will be coming in the near future, and I am very excited about making it easier for all of our students and faculty to obtain vital institutional information. |
