Student parking this year has been disastrous. The other day, I was pulling into the upper student lot and noticed that some idiot had parked in the middle, completely blocking a car in. I have no idea who would have double-parked like that, but if I were the one stuck in the middle, that person would have had a bumper imprint in their grill, because I would have pushed them right out of the way. The biggest problem is that there isn't enough parking to go around. Every night I come back the lots are completely full, so people are parked in the middle of the lot, where you are supposed to be able to drive through. The parking area for students should be increased. Students need to be aware of the parking problem and park conservatively. If my truck hadn't been hit in the parking lot the other day, I wouldn't be bitter. I'm sure the person who hit me was not a good driver, but if there were more room in the parking lot, this probably wouldn't have happened. If I were the person who put their bumper into my door, I probably would have been too embarrassed to own up to it, too. Mike Legere
Well, it seems that now Chaplin is on lockdown to everyone who is not an architect student. The architects have always kept to themselves, so I guess it only suits them to have a clubhouse to kick around in. "No Non Architects Allowed" or "Architects Only", it should read on the door. The architects complain that people steal their equipment. Well, all you have to do is lock your equipment up with a master lock. They also complain that people hog the computers. Whenever I go down there to work, there are always two or three computers open. I see regular students typing papers and slaving over computer projects, while an architecture student is having a conversation on instant messenger. A logical solution to this would be to put the swipe card system at the entrances to the studios. That way, the architects don't have to worry about their tools being stolen and regular people can use the computer lab. And just for the record, this swipe-card system doesn't stop anyone from getting into the building; so swipe away, architects. Benjamin Hannur
Many people feel that the U.S. should not get into a conflict with the countries of the Middle East. Many people forget that the reason we are going into these countries is because they pose a threat to the United States and its allies. The U.S. is not going to war just to pick a fight because we can. It really makes me mad when I look into the newspaper and see angry protesters with signs that say the U.S. is a big bully. I get so mad when I hear this. If people don't like the way this country is run then GET OUT!!! Those that badmouth this country and don't appreciate the things we, as Americans, are able to do, should leave and try their luck in some third-world country and see if they would be treated any better. Most likely, if they tried to protest in another country, they would be thrown in jail and beaten, or shot!! The point I'm trying to get across is that many Americans take for granted the rights and privileges they have, and continue to protest those that give them those rights: the soldier and sailor who must leave their homes and families to make sure this great country stays protected. I feel that the only people that can really protest what goes on are those who served their country either in the military or some government job, because those people know what it was like to try and keep this country going 100%. Only then can they understand how hard it was. Anthony Lanza |
