as we see it (editorial)

Change is always greeted with a touch of apprehension. The announcement of the appointment of Col. Michael Kelley, NU '74, to the position of commandant and VP for student affairs heralds forthcoming change at Norwich for next year. This type of change is one which those who are in the senior and junior classes already know, having lived through the retirement of Col. Leonard Dolcinski and the arrival and subsequent departure of Col. Michael McKean.

Having dealt with the unfortunate events of Col. McKean's tenure, it would seem this year's juniors, who will lead the student body next year as seniors, might be hesitant to become enthusiastic about welcoming Col. Kelley back to Norwich.

The staff of The Norwich Guidon has high hopes for Col. Kelley. We believe that a Norwich graduate will serve the current needs of the university well and that an individual with as distinguished an academic and military background as Col. Kelley will be a better fit for the university and its students.

We hope all the students will join us in extending to him a warm welcome home and enthusiastic support as he assumes the duties of mentor and role model for the entire student body.
