Central Vermont is known for the vivid reds, and oranges of autumn that bring to life the countryside and which attract visitors form all over to view the beauty and serenity of the changing seasons. Within the proverbial walls of Norwich, however, fall is anything but serene. The change of lifestyle from summer, coupled with a new class schedule and responsibilities, weigh heavily on the minds of everyone associated with campus life. The peaceful sights that awe so many are an everyday occurrence here, and as such can occasionally have little effect on the overwhelming stresses of Norwich life. It is variation that the Norwich student in particular craves, some way out of the tedium of the school atmosphere. In years past, this relentless routine has wreaked havoc on the mentality of students and faculty alike. Something has always been missing from the equation, and this year, due to the hard work of student activities and the section five personnel, a solution appears to have been found. This year, an underlying air of enjoyment has made its way into the Norwich lifestyle. With picnics a regular event, and bimonthly gatherings for seniors, students and faculty have been able to momentarily escape the daily routine. Planned events have allowed Norwich to host a foam and Wild West party, as well as a concert that brought an MTV DJ to campus. While more spontaneous activities have helped fill in the downtime between activities. Such milestones promise nothing but great things for the remainder of the school year. On behalf of the student body, in appreciation for the work done and
yet to be done, the Norwich Guidon staff would like to thank Chan
Stowell, student activities and section five for the work that they have
diligently set forth for themselves this year in a valiant attempt to
relieve the boredom that annually plagues the Norwich campus. |
