In Andrews Hall on the last day of the February Team Bean, managed by Dana Bean and Dana Harris, took the court for the intramural championship game. Team Bean came into the championship game with a 9-0 record. This was the first time there would be undefeated champions in basketball intraumals.

Team Bean breezed through the regular season, and no opponent challenged them. Many of their victories were blowouts, since the team, filled with ex-varsity basketball players, couldn't be matched.

Michael Buchanan, sophomore from Chatham, Mass., majoring in business management, said, "We were a threat behind the arch, and other teams couldn't out-rebound us.''

Players such as Mike Freeman, Gio Giovanis, Ronnel Daniels, and Drew Myers led the charge as Team Bean went through a flawless victory through the intramural regular season.

Team Bean captain John Cappellano said, "To have such a good team that I picked, it was hard to just pick the starting five, and trying to spread out our strengths and weaknesses to keep the momentum flowing through our substitutions in the season, but it all worked out, and everyone was on the same page. They are not virgins to the word 'experience' in intramurals."

Even when the team was struggling, Team Bean found ways to win and score lots of points to take control of the game.

The opponent for Team Bean in the championship game was the little Dikta's. The game was a low score first half, and both teams played hard.

In the third quarter things got a little bit fierce. Words were said that upset players on Team Bean. Gio Giovannis was the first to encounter the battle of words. He was ejected from the game.

Dana Harris, a junior from Springfield, MA., said, "The Little Ditkas had so many dirty players on the team. Bean and I just thought it was crazy how the refs weren't making the calls out there. Earlier, Bean and I noticed this right away and warned the refs, and from middle fingers towards Bean and I to elbows below the belt, it just couldn't get any worse, but we're just satisfied by our lead on the anonymous decision victory for the championship."

Things got more intense when a player from the Little Diktas elbowed a Team Bean player in the crotch. The player from Team Bean retaliated by smacking his opponent.

The game was called, and Team Bean was winning, so Team Bean became the 2002 Intramural Champions.
